Slither on over for a reptile party!

REPTILE PARTY!

My oldest son was turning 6 and he is an animal and reptile lover.  So we decided to throw him a reptile party and even have real reptiles come out to his party.  It was really awesome and he loved his one on one time with the reptiles.  We had food and decorations all inspired by reptiles, and jungle theme.  We attempted to make a kids photo back drop - but it didn't go according to planned, the backdrop would not stick to the stucco or walls, and we didn't want all the kids in the house.

Also, I made the banner with a tan table runner from home goods store for like $10.99, which worked out perfect since it is already hemmed and cut. All it needed was paint, and I used my cricut to cut each letter out and tapped each letter to the banner and spray painted black around, let it dry and peeled off.  The rest we painted by hand, using some of his wooden toy snake as a good tracer, and other reptiles we printed, traced and painted by hand.

-Enjoy! Hope to provide some inspiration for your reptile party!

Cupcakes with sour worms, candy rocks, dirt pudding/cake, snake egg jell-o, candy table.

Dirt cake (chocolate pudding with whipped cream, crumbled oreos, candy worms, put into small cups I found at Smart and Final)

Snake egg Jell-O (sour apple Jell-o and a few green grapes places in each before refrigerating)

I scored on some fake green plants, clearance at Michael's that I used, and bought blank wood letters to spell out his age "SIX" and I glued the reptiles I could fine already painted at Michael's in the section with all the other already painted wood animals and such that are under a $1.

Found this sign at Hobby Lobby, and tapped one of the alligators from Michael's.

Safari hats ordered online from oriental trading, and mustaches -Dollar tree.  Boys wore camo shorts and tanks.

Back drop I bough on Oriental Trading as well, it was same material as the plastic table covers, and it was a lot, I used in back drop of candy table & for the picture (or tried).

Our cool reptile guy showing us one of the snakes.

 My son loving it.

I created these with the label format on Microsoft word, since we took our son to the reptile store before his party, and I was initially trying to use these as the invites but the quality wasn't that great, and neither was the user (aka vmomma) need to learn photo shop! So I used these for my Facebook invite for the event, and I also wrote ones with Thank You and printed on label stickers for the lollipops on the candy table below also on some of the candy jars.

Above are the invites I mailed out to family that didn't have Facebook, or that I knew would want to keep :) So easy online at Walgreen's, added the pictures online, and picked up after work with envelopes, and always look for online promo code or in your email for coupons if you are signed up with them.

Reptile guy let my family take pictures with the big snakes!

We made sure to all be in Camo, or safari gear ....

Can't forget the girls pink mustaches! Too cute :)

Wouldn't be a party with out some cake in his face! Happy Birthday my love!!! :) My kid is a good sport about this stuff - do so with judgement of your own :).

Hope you enjoy, many items of course I have been inspired by other pinners, and I really enjoy a party theme and running with the theme.  I was able to pick up many things from my local dollar tree and 99 cent store - I always go there before hitting any of the other stores. You would be surprised - so hope to inspire some great ideas, since I found the reptile theme a little tougher. Boys party themes always seem to be a bit tougher, especially if it isn't a popular character or theme.

Also, always remember to sign up for the stores you know you will shopping at to get coupons before hand, or google promo codes.  I always use promo codes and Michaels/Joanns coupons when shopping. :)
